BTW, I thought that it was going to go up in smoke too when I first wired it up that way. I just wanted see how loud it would get at .5 ohm before it popped, then I was planning to get something better, but I just can’t kill this sucker! Those RE SR12′s are some tough little troopers too, I’m pushin’ well over twice their rated rms power to them, but I just can’t kill ‘em. I am careful to avoid audible clipping though, so this may be why everything has survived this long.
I don’t have any vids right now, but I can tell you that I have four RE Audio SR12D4′s with all eight coils wired in parallell. If you know anything about Ohm’s law, do the math – 8 coils @ 4 ohms each = 0.5 ohms when they are all wired in parellell.
I’m sure that it helps to have a strong electrical system. I have a 200 amp alt, and two Stinger SPV70 batteries but it still blinks my headlights pretty bad when its wangin’ full tilt, I’ve never had a problems with it though.
@vettonator – Show me a video of your system… Lets see an Ohm meter on the wires! I’m sorry but what your saying is hard to believe, you probably have it at 2ohms and you don’t even know it lol
That’s weird that your amp gave up the smoke on just 1 ohm. I’ve got one of the old Power Series Power Acoustik amps – the PS1-5500D. It has exactly the same specs, and I thought it was basically the same amp, only with different styling, but my PS1-5500D has been taking 0.5 ohm – that’s right – just 1/2 ohm daily, for nearly a year now with no problems. It takes a ton of current to feed it, but it’s never missed a beat. Best 200 bucks I ever spent. Have you got another amp yet?

@igypop100 – This amp worked Great with 3 subs, but when I added the fourth it dropped it down to one ohm and for a month or two it sounded incredible, then it took a crap playing THAT SONG… The amp was supposed to be 1ohm stable monoblock…
