Does flat speaker wire work as well as regular speaker wire?
I’ve been debating on a surround sound system for a few days now and one of the big obsticles I’ve thought about is how to unobtrusively get the cables to the rear speakers. I’ve been convinced that wireless speakers are not worth the investment. I came across flat speaker wire. Has anyone ever used this stuff? I’m curious about whether or not it works as well as a regular speaker wire?

I have used it and if it is a good quality speaker wire with a good gage (14 or above), you shouldn’t have any issues.
Speaker wire should be fine flat or round. I have heard about issues sometimes with the design allowing it to pick up interference but its probably in extreme conditions. The key is to match the gauge to the length you need. See something along these lines.

I have used the flat speaker wire in the past , and yes it does work as well as regular speaker wire.
The difference is that it can be run underneath rugs and carpeting more easily , can be hidden behind baseboards as long as you don’t puncture the wire with nails, also it can be painted the same color as your wall to hide the wire.
