Flat Speaker Wire

Running New Speaker Wire 96-00 Honda Civic (Drivers Side)

By · Friday, January 22nd, 2010

This is in addition to the first video on how to install speaker wire through the current molex connector. Again my vehicle is a 96 EX so other makes and models may be different. This one took quite a bit more time, roughly 5 hours, because I was being care full and I also used multiple tools. I am not responsible for anyone who wants to do this and isn’t careful. This is more of an introductory video on how one might go about it themselves. As you can see the drivers side is fairly limited …

I would love to use better speakers, however there is the money issue and also a Civic with a history of electrical problems, including power windows control. The electrical “gremlins” are the main reason why I want to avoid even looking at it wrong. Thanks again.

Mrlunrable you can do that route if you want but your situation sounds like a perfect opportunity to have something better than oem. Anyway just make sure you leave enough room to open and close the door.

I have a 1996 Civic sedan LX. All I want to do is recover OEM speaker (driver side door) function due to a broken wire between the receiver and the speaker. Is it a bad idea to remove fender, drill holes in door and chassis(?) slightly above or below the boots/connectors? After I route wires I would fill gaps with putty. I do not want to disturb the existing electrical wires/connectors if possible. Thanks.

No, I actually have a 96 EX. The passenger side was easy and the whole bottom was free but the drivers side was a pain and took me a few hours. Power windows, locks, and alarm unlock still work :)

You must not have power locks/windows. i had to fit my speaker wire through the bottom 2 holes….such a pain.
